JAY-Z Told SZA That He Thought She Was A 'Fluke' & Her Response Was Classic

Since the release of her debut album, Ctrl, SZA has been getting much-deserved respect from people who are just as in love with her music, as we are.

The trials and tribulations that the recording artist went through before her project was released were tough. There was even a moment in time where SZA was feeling so insecure about her music that she almost quit making songs. But, thankfully she didn't. Now, she's continuing to show the world how much of a force to be reckoned with she is. JAY-Z had to learn this, too.

According to SZA, Hov didn't initially believe that she was such a beast in the music game. In an interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, the singer/songwriter admitted that JAY flat out told her that he thought she was a "fluke." SZA explained, "JAY-Z was the first person to tell me that he thought I was a fluke, to my face. I laughed and I said, so do I."

She continued to say that when JAY used the word "fluke," he said it with a positive overtone. "He was just like, 'You’re really good, you’re pretty good,' and I was like 'Thanks,'" SZA added. "He said, 'I thought you were a fluke' and I was like, 'Me too!'"
